I think I need some advice.
Do I buy a laptop or not? I will have the money from our refund. however, I’m not sure I should spend it on that or debt.
Then again – this other refund – that rebate thingie for the economy – is found money. I didn’t work for it, I didn’t earn it, so heck, why put it towards debt?
I have an old clunky laptop which is fairly unuseable. When talking to those in the know about such things, they basically said “Go new… Even if you try to upgrade the old one, it’s just not meant to handle that much processing.”
OK fine. I won’t upgrade, it would be new. Then there was the mac vs pc debate… Which I still haven’t reconciled.
Why do I want one?
I have a desktop at home, and one at work. They both are fine. I have no complaints there.
But every once in a while I would like to go sit on the couch instead. Every once in a while, I’d like to go to starbucks and write without the distractions. And – if I’m totally honest – I’d like to take it with me to BlogHer.
Is all that enough to spend that kind of money though? I think this is a case of guilt vs. want. Which is going to win?
What would you do? No, seriously, help me out here!
Go for the laptop. Go for a Mac. Just yesterday I took my laptop and worked at Starbucks for a few hours, just for a change of scenery. It was nice.
And I can totally sit on the couch with the S.O. while he is watching TV shows I don’t care about and feel both productive and like we’re spending time together 🙂
You may seriously have just convinced me.
If you want to enjoy your free money, I’d say go for the laptop. 🙂 (David uses his not just for work, but to “play” while we sit and watch tv together).
We plan on using our free money to pay down debt, and hopefully get myself some new glasses, which I desperately need.
Oh.. by free, I mean the tax rebate/perk/whatever it’s called that the gov’t is sending out in May. We’ve already received our tax refund, and used it on debt. 😛
