Homemade Mac & Cheese – recipe list

July 25, 2009 By Michele Leave a Comment

Typing this one from the side of my kiddie pool for a change of scenery and quiet. Ahhhh, the wonders of wifi.

OK, another totally left-field question from my friend Amy. Yes, she really exists, I was in her wedding.

How do you make homemade macaroni and cheese??

I’ve never actually made the homemade stuff. I’ve always been afraid the picky eaters in my bunch wouldn’t eat it, since they’re used to good old craft. But I love me some of the homemade bunch and I’ve saved the recipe links, in case I wanted to try making them. I love cooking, just hate cleaning up.

Macaroni and Cheese – This comes from the famous Pioneer Woman. I heart her. I also heart her recipes. I met her briefly at SXSW and she was very sweet.

Vermont Mac and Cheese – Looks rich but worth a try.

Mac and Cheese Dog Casserole
– Coming from one of my most favorite of people, Domestic Chicky.

There you go. Three different recipes to try.

What is Bastille Day

July 25, 2009 By Michele Leave a Comment

OK. I asked for input and I got it.

My friend Amy asked:

What is Bastille Day??

Your guess is as good as mine as to why she asked that. Perhaps Facebook is more enemy than friend.

So, like a good blogger, I looked it up.

According to Wikipedia:

Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called Fête Nationale (“National Celebration”) in official parlance, or more commonly le quatorze juillet (“14 July”). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

Happy, Amy?

Confusion

July 25, 2009 By Michele 2 Comments

I beginning to confuse myself. I’ve had to start writing down when to post. It’s starting to blend together. It’s only 2:50pm as I sit writing this, so I’m not tired, there’s just a sheer volume. So, I think I may have missed one, because I came back to my computer and a post was saved not posted. Sigh. Good thing all my pledges were set amounts, not per post, otherwise I’d be down one. I think. I’m still confused.

Random – I took a really quick shower between the 2:30 post and this one. I was going so fast (so I could write up the next post on time) that I caught my eyebrow ring and nearly ripped it straight out. Major pain. But no blood or bruising (yet.) This is what my husband would call “sacrifice of the bod.”

Another random note – Any recommendations on a swimsuit for a mom of two who is closer to 40 than 20? 34 to be exact. I’m planning on writing from out side near our little pool once the small human splashes of death to pink laptops are done playing out there with their dad. Anyway, I was putting on my suit and noticed the seam is unravelling and the lining is fraying. At which point I realized I’ve owned the suit for about 8 years, so it makes sense. Any brands or specific suits you love?

Awaiting your questions

Hm.

I seem to have hit a plateau. I know… Ask me questions!! Please!! You ask me questions and I write them up.

Please?

That is the sound of desperation. I think it’s merely an after eating dearth of creativity, but humor me.

Nothing’s off limits. I may not answer the way you want, but nothing’s off the table.

A little something for the boys

Still eating lunch – here’s a little something for the fanboys of Tron to squee over. Even I think it looks cool. I have a thing for sequels.
