Cooling down

September 15, 2006 By Michele 4 Comments

I’m about to jinx myself. I love fall because it brings the cooler weather. Living in Southern California can be brutal in the summer. 112 and no central air? Yeah. Great. Makes me want to smack people when they rave about the weather. I want to point out the multiple elderly deaths due to the heat. I want to point out the blown tires and overheated cars causing problems on the freeways. I want to tell them about warnings, and how when the UV index is too high and we’re forced, and our kids are forced to stay inside. Let’s not even talk about fire season.

But fall. I love fall. The weather might get pretty warm during the day, and will through October, but the mornings and evenings are a blessed blessed relief. I know that I might be changing my tune come February, but still. I can start to wear the clothes I’m comfortable in without roasting myself. I can send Joseph to school to run around without worrying that heal overheat himself – or an all over coating thick with sunscreen. He’s got very very fair, highly sensitive skin – and getting the teachers to realize that almost take a sunburn under their watch.

I love the cooling. I love it. It’s so hard to see the changes of the seasons here… But for the cooling.

Discombobulation – say it 10 times fast

September 14, 2006 By Michele Leave a Comment

I am absolutely discombobulated!! I took that time for Jeannette, and you would think the sky had fallen. Dude. You** REALLY REALLY can live without me. I mean it’s nice to be needed and all, but it’s Thursday and I’m still not caught up. And your calling me every hour to see if your stuff is done? “Well, you’re back now.” Does NOT make things happen faster. I know it may seem very very important to you, but since I’m working with over 30 films in various stages of production, and managing about $30 million worth of budgets, you’re just gonna have to wait your turn Dammit. Dammit dammit dammit. For fuck’s sake get over yourself. Have I EVER let you down? No? Then get off my back.

** This is the Universal You. You encompasses about 15 individuals that have their heads up their asses.

Visit Slackers

Go visit Slackermommy – my renter – at Slacker-Moms-R-Us. I like the simple design, which makes reading easy. She’s fun, but can be serious and have some thought provoking things to say. Go visit her.

TITMT – 9/12

The acting world is full of household names. Harrison Ford. Tom Cruise. Meryl Streep. But today’s post isn’t about them. Today I want to hear about the actors who are your favorite little known gems. You know, the type that you love to see in a movie, but from time to time even you have to look up their names?

Hmmm… I know he’s not totally unknown, but I love Michael Rapaport. What’s funny is – my husband’s a gaming junkie, and Michael Rappaport has done voiceovers for the games. I’ll stop my husband – WAIT I know that voice! But he just has that touch exterior, sweet teddy bear interior, sensitive but still masculine thing going.

Also – now gaining fame – Mia Kirshner. She’s now gaining ground on The L Word, and The Black Dahlia. But I remember her as one of the cool badass chicks who tried to assasinate David Palmer on 24. Gogeous, eccentric, and erotic in one seemingly innocent package – which you just know is not the case.

Tommy Flanagan. He’s the scarred dude from Braveheart – the one who’s new wife is taken from the wedding reception for an English Lord to rape so the English can “breed them out.” Anyway – Tommy? Is just cool.
