Tell It To Me Tuesday

Tell it to me Tuesday

For this week’s TITMT I am going to step away from music, trivia and list making requests. Instead, I’m going to ask you for your opinion on a scenario. The scenario itself is deliberately vague on details to see what you would do without too much information. On Sunday I will elaborate more and reveal what we actually did.

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I were on our way home from Philadelphia. On the way we spotted a man pulled over to the side of the road. Assumably his family was waiting in the car. He was flagging drivers down and my boyfriend pulled over. He told us that his car had broken down and that help was on the way, but that unfortunately he did not have all the money he needed to pay for the tow truck. So he was asking strangers, out of the kindness of their hearts, for anything up to fifteen dollars to contribute to the total cost. He also offered to pay us back if we were willing to give our address to him.

1. Would you have stopped in the first place? Why or why not?

Yes. If it wouldn’t create more of a hazard and they are flagging down. I would want to make sure they called for help – or offer my cell phone if not.

2. Are there any factors that would contribute to your stopping or not stopping that would ultimately change your answer?

Creepiness factor. Whether or not they looked like they were on top of things. Although the flagging down part kind of gives it away. Whether I’d be in a situation (as a woman alone) that I couldn’t get out of.

3. If you stopped, would you or would you not give him the money he asked for?

Well. I think I would – $15 is not a terrible lot of money in the grand scheme of things. As long as I had it – I don’t carry a lot of cash. And even if it was a scam, quite frankly, I’d rather err on the side of caution so that if he is telling the truth he has the money.

4. If you gave him the money, would you supply your address?

No. I wouldn’t consider it a loan, I’d consider it a gift.

5. Does time of year or time of day effect your answer?

Nope.

Toys for Tots Campaign at Vimo

Vimo to Donate up to $100,000 to Toys For Tots. Company will donate $1 for every doctor rating
posted to Vimo site during the month of December

Vimo wants to know what people think about their doctors, and is running a unique and generous holiday promotion to prove it. Vimo, the Internet’s leading healthcare comparison-shopping site, will donate one dollar to the US Marine Reserve Toys For Tots Program for every doctor rating posted during December by consumers to the Vimo website, at www.vimo.com/toysfortots. The company has committed to donating up to a maximum $100,000. Posting a review at Vimo is quick and free – it doesn’t even require user registration – and posting privileges are open to all United States residents.

“We encourage online shoppers to stop by www.vimo.com/toysfortots during their holiday Internet shopping”. Visitors can rate their doctor in about 30 seconds and help bring the magic of the holidays to needy youngsters,” says Chini Krishnan, Founder and CEO of Vimo, Inc. “We also encourage people to forward this note to their friends. We want to make the maximum donation possible – up to $100,000 – so rate your doctors and tell your friends!”

There are a few rules to the promotion: Vimo will donate a maximum of $3 per reviewer (person). To qualify, a review needs to be original and include at least 100 characters of commentary on the doctor’s performance. Machine-generated reviews, or reviews containing nonsensical, threatening or obscene language do not qualify, nor do reviews that come from outside the United States. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion.

Next time…

Next time I whine about not having anything to write about, smack me up side the head. Hard.

Yesterday I got a call from Poe before I left for work, letting me know he was being towed – the car just plain stopped working. At first, ’cause the ticker showed 1/4 of a tank they thought he needed gas. Nope. Towed to our mechanic. The mechanic played with it all day. Several test drives, and a long stint on the computer, and it’s running fine. he can’t find a problem.

Sigh.

I went in to work late, as I needed to pick Poe up from the mechanic’s and take him home. I get in to work and my office – only my office, and only one wall – was dark. No Power. Of course, that’s the side my computer was plugged into. So even my timecard was late since I couldn’t get to it. My circuit was blown. They don’t know why.

My health issues are making me extremely tired. Energy is just not something I have right now, so work is about all I can handle. But I HAD to get some groceries last night… I had put it off too long. It was a bad idea. I got home we unloaded, then headed out with the kids in their jammies to pick up the car. By the time I got home I was slurring my words and staring into space – I was THAT tired.

So next time? Just smack me. I hate Mondays.

Nothing!

I got nothing! I’ve tried to think of something – anything to write – I apparently have some sort of block. Everything’s status quo – stressed over the same things. yadda yadda. Nothing in the news has struck me to write about. Sheesh.
