My Mind

March 28, 2008 By Michele Leave a Comment

My mind is all akimbo.

Things are starting to come together in plans to come home.  Granted, not tomorrow, but concrete plans.  There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

But I’ve had too much caffeine and cannot seem to put the words to paper blog in order to tell you all about it.

My mind is a jumble of thoughts, coherent and not.  Good and bad.  Fears and elation.  I can’t seem to sort it all out.  Usually writing it out helps, but not today.

what i do online each day

March 22, 2008 By Michele 2 Comments

Each day, there are specific things I do online…  My “dailies” so to speak.

  • Google home page, which is calibrated for my own interests, including my email and weather
  • Aol mail and news
  • Blog mail
  • Twitter (which is actually an all day refresh kind of thing)
  • FreeRice
  • Mvelopes
  • Guild Website (for WoW)
  • Google calendar
  • Bloglines
  • Cafemom
  • MySpace
  • cre8Buzz
  • Yuwie – Although I’m considering deleting my account
  • Disaboom
  • Blog here
  • Blog Stars Behind Bars
  • Blog Special Needs Parent
  • And various other places that are linked to here in the sidebars.  That activity comes through emails though, so I only go there when there’s something new I’m notified of.

Mondays – the weekly stuff

  • Waste of Time Comics – Heh.  He’s in my wow guild.
  • BlogHer Gig Forum
  • Mmolecule comics

I’m also working on my review site, but I’m not ready to start publicizing it really yet.

It’s all organized neatly in bookmarks and my foxpro buttons, so it’s fairly quick.  I’m able to do everything but the blogging before the kids wake up.

So, what do YOU do online everyday?

to laptop or not

March 13, 2008 By Michele 4 Comments

I think I need some advice.

Do I buy a laptop or not?  I will have the money from our refund.  however, I’m not sure I should spend it on that or debt.

Then again – this other refund – that rebate thingie for the economy – is found money.  I didn’t work for it, I didn’t earn it, so heck, why put it towards debt?

I have an old clunky laptop which is fairly unuseable.  When talking to those in the know about such things, they basically said “Go new…  Even if you try to upgrade the old one, it’s just not meant to handle that much processing.”

OK fine.  I won’t upgrade, it would be new.  Then there was the mac vs pc debate…  Which I still haven’t reconciled.

Why do I want one?

I have a desktop at home, and one at work.  They both are fine.   I have no complaints there.

But every once in a while I would like to go sit on the couch instead.  Every once in a while, I’d like to go to starbucks and write without the distractions.  And – if I’m totally honest – I’d like to take it with me to BlogHer.

Is all that enough to spend that kind of money though?  I think this is a case of guilt vs. want.  Which is going to win?

What would you do?  No, seriously, help me out here!

Time Flies

What does it make me, if I got really excited about the time change, ’cause the clock in the kitchen now has the correct time?  You know – ’cause it never got changed last time?

Lazy?

Made me Smile

February 25, 2008 By Michele Leave a Comment

I was on my way home from work the other night.  I drive through a little portion of a city that was sort of made for “date night.”  Near a nice mall, lit up tree lined streets, shops, galleries, restaurants and the like.  So I’m a stop light, and look to my left – when what to my wondering eyes should appear…

**cough**

I looked to the left and saw a man who looked JUST like Santa crossing the street.  I mean he had the hair, beard, cheeks, and belly.  Seriously.  Anyway, this isn’t any ordinary Santa…  He had on a t-shirt, down vest, and capri pants.  He also had tattoos up and down his legs.  And socks with sandals.   We’ll let that one go.

He was pushing a standard stroller.  My thought was, “What a cool grandpa!  When that kid grows up he can say his grandpa IS Santa!”  Then I looked down.  In the stroller, was an absolutely beautifully groomed Lhasa Apso dog.  Wearing a hot pink jacket.

It was the coolest, and most utterly ridiculous, thing I’ve seen in a long long time.
