I really really really wish I were going to Blogher.

I hate money.
I don’t think anyone who’s going even knows my blog. But I read them.

But aside from that, she's still completely normal

This week’s renter is From Tracie.
First of all, you know how much I love simpler designs. And this one meets the bill. Lots of stuff, but organized, clean and neat. She’s a survivor, and has survivor links on her site. Survivor of what? Well, that’s her story to tell, and you’ll have to go visit her to find out. She’s a fairly new blogger – but there’s a lot of content for a short amount of time.
Go visit!
As a former ministry worker, I know how hard it is to find jobs. Not due to lack! But because they’re not exactly listed on the well known job search sites.

I don’t talk much about religion on this site. But – I am a Christian. And I used to work in ministry. I was in HR, and remember how hard it was to find those people to interview, because it was hard to get the word out. Now we can.
Have you ever wanted to put quotes on your site, but don’t have a resource? Or, have you ever wanted just to be able to see some lines from someone else that felt the way you’re feeling? Here are some that apply to me…
“You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning.” Billy Wilder
“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.” Louisa May Alcott
“While you are experimenting, do not remain content with the surface of things. Don’t become a mere recorder of facts, but try to penetrate the mystery of their origin.” Isabel Allende
“Make women rational creatures, and free citizens, and they will quickly become good wives; — that is, if men do not neglect the duties of husbands and fathers.” Mary Wollstonecraft
There are many many more over at Quotable Quotes. They’re broken out by different categories. Go on and go! I think you’ll find it to be a good resource.
So, I found two old boyfriends on MySpace recently… OK, technically one wasn’t a “boyfriend” but could have been. Anyway, Uh oh. Now I’m gonna have to name them. Ah – what the hell. I’m not giving last names.
Chad was my very first boyfriend, who seems to have moved back to California. Friend Carol (this is also HER ex boyfriend… Long story – don’t ask) found him and passed the page on to me. He asked for my phone number, which I gave, but he hasn’t called. I hope he does. His email to me sounded like he’d been through a lot. We broke up when we realized we were more like brother and sister. One of the kindest guys to me ever – including adulthood. I hope he’s stayed the same as a man as he was as a boy. I mean I went to kindergarten with him.
And Colin. Oh Colin. HE does know about this site. I was actually looking for other people and someone had him listed as a friend. I sort of took a double take – THAT COLIN? So, we’ve been catching up via email, and he seems to have made a nice life for himself. He’s another one who was always nice to me. And we came thisclose to going out “officially” but I was too scared to go out into the unknown. There are some interesting and very good memories there.
What’s nice about finding these guys? Other than my Poe, very few guys (boys really then) and men later on, have been good to me. Very very very few. Which is sad, really when you think about how many good guys there really are out there, that I’ve had such limited experience with. But these two were good to me. Kind. Loving. Didn’t force me to do anything I didn’t want to do. Which if you’ve been reading a while know is – um – different for me. It’s very good to remember them. I would love to have them back into my life if Poe would be okay with it. I told him about both of them in the interest of full disclosure. Anything else would feel to me like sneaking around.
It’s great to be reminded of “good” people right now.
