I’m sorry guys but I’ve had to add authentication to comments. Hopefully it won’t be too annoying but I’ve just gotten TOO MUCH comment spam.
Saturday hiatus
I’m taking a Saturday hiatus – I may post later on but I doubt it. I’m the new editor of the school paper. And its due tomorrow. So I have to go learn publishing software I’ve never used (after first installing it), wade through all the article submissions, edit, and then try to fit the puzzle pieces in a format fit for publishing.
I’m never raising my hand again.
A weekly idea?
So, I had come up with the concept for a weekly feature called What Would We Do Wednesdays. The idea was this: You all would send in questions, and Poe and myself would answer on our respective blogs with our version of our answer. Sort of a “he said/she said” type of thing. Only two of you submitted questions, and my idea died a slow painful death.
BUT – I still want to do a weekly feature! So… What do you want to see here?
The other idea I had, but hadn’t tried was the same sort of idea… You all would send in questions. I would keep track of them, and post one a week. You all would answer on your own blog and/or in my comments (and I would answer too.) I’m not talking about writing prompts or hypothetical “what would you do’s.” I’m talking about actual advice for real problems – ranging from, “My kid keeps eating paste, what do I do” to “I think my marriage is falling apart, what do I do?”
I think it could lead to some interesting dialogue, and I get to run the show and be the boss which appeals to my anal retentive perfectionist self.
OR – I’m open to anyone’s ideas for a weekly feature. Does someone out there have an idea, and just don’t want to do it on your own blog? Is something missing that you’d like to see on a blog? Please let me know.
Trivia!
Ok. So I found a site that feeds a sick ability of mine.
Did you know I’ve been on game shows?
Yeah. I have this weird brain that cannot remember the geometry I was taught, but I will remember the mating rituals of worms. Just in case I was ever asked. I have a trivia brain. I do. Poe will actually call me from work, when something comes up in conversation and he wants an answer. It could be how to spell the longest word (did you know that antidisestablishmentarianism is NOT the longest word? pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is but it might be a hoax.) or “who was that guy that was in that movie with that chick with the car?” And I’ll know exactly what he is talking about or how to find it.
Don’t, however, ask me what I had for breakfast yesterday. I won’t know.
So now I have found this – the Aviva Trivia Blog. I have bloglined it. Watch out Baby.
So yeah. If you like trivia or whatever it’s cool. I also like the blog format, ’cause then I can learn something new everyday. Like these little snippets.
* We all like our trivia and apparently so does Snapple bottled juices. One piece of trivia found on the bottle cap was the fact that fish can cough! Who knew.
1. Just in case you ever wondered, the term “juke” is a southern term for dancing. Makes sense when you think about it. The dances might have been a little different back in those days, but the kids still loved it.
Scientists in Brazil were looking to make a hardier bee for better honey production; instead, the result was the aggressive hybrid known today as killer bees.
So go be smarter.![]()
