I want to recommend to you my favorite books – it’s a set. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
The whole series.
I love them. Time travel, true love, the Scottish Highlands, the fighting, the mayhem. And yeah, there’s sex too, but they aren’t romance novels in the traditional sense. Sigh. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I married a James of Irish and Scottish descent who happens to be a red-headed warrior (or former Marine as the case may be.) They’re huge books, but so worth it. They are of the very few books that I’ve reread. Again and again and again.
Wow – that’s crazy. That’s the book I’m listening to RIGHT NOW. I have the first audiobook on my MP3 player. I only just started it – I’m still on Disk 1.
I read the first book and really liked it. I have the rest of the series, but haven’t gotten around to reading them yet.
I saw this and just had to reply. I have read everythign Diana Gabaldon has ever written! I LOVE her books. There’s a new one coming out this fall and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! she is brilliant.
I finagled my way into a meeting of the Tennessee Romance Writer’s Assoc. some years ago [I don’t write romances but I had a friend who did] and listened to Diana give a speech and she was amazing. It was so interesting and funny. She is a tiny little woman, very lively, so intelligent – just a delight. I would love to hear her again.
Let’s trade notes after the new one comes out – I think it’s called An Echo In The Bone?- and we’ve had a chance to read it.

I’ve heard many bloggers RAVE about this series. Suppose I should try it?
